Jim Furyk has never won THE PLAYERS. Rob Bolton breaks down all 144 golfers for this week's tour stop while Ned Brown serves up his weekly starters.

 Bernhard Langer-GMay. 9 - 6:12 pm et
Bernhard Langer chased an opening 72 with a 5-under par 67 in the second round of THE PLAYERS.
It was a round for the ages for the 50-year young German. Langer had an eagle and four birdies in his first eight holes on Friday and then added the exclamation point with a long-range birdie putt at 17 after a tee shot that barely cleared the front edge of the island green. The two-time runner-up (1995/1993) sits one stroke behind the 36-hole clubhouse lead as the afternoon wave finishes.
 Zach Johnson-GMay. 9 - 5:50 pm et
Zach Johnson shot 76-79 in his first two rounds at THE PLAYERS and will miss the cut.
ZJ was his typical strong self from tee to green but he needed a ridiculous 68 putts on the slick greens at TPC Sawgrass. It's the first time in four starts he's missed a cut at the event and just his second MC of 2008.
 Paul Casey-GMay. 9 - 5:31 pm et
Paul Casey followed an opening 77 with a 4-over par 76 on Friday at THE PLAYERS and will miss the cut.
Casey has struggled the last two years at TPC Sawgrass (76-78=MC, 2007). This week, although he hit just half of his GIR, he still needed 61 putts. Ever since he exploded to a 79 on Sunday at the Masters, Casey has missed two cuts in as many starts. It's likely we'll see him next at the Memorial in three weeks.
 Lee Westwood-GMay. 9 - 5:07 pm et
Lee Westwood completed 36 holes in an aggregate 7-over par and will miss the cut at THE PLAYERS.
Westwood was done in by poor putting, requiring 66 of the short strokes over two rounds. Today, despite teeing off in the morning wave, breezy conditions contributed to his 78, which included seven bogeys. The Brit is an all-or-nothing start in weekly leagues since he only competes in the deepest fields and on the most difficult courses. If history holds, his next start on the PGA Tour will be at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
 K.J. Choi-GMay. 9 - 4:54 pm et
K.J. Choi shot 79-78-157 and will miss the cut at THE PLAYERS.
Choi didn't do himself any favors out of the chute on Thursday as he was 8-over par at the turn. He got one back on his second nine for the 79 but failed to drain a single birdie on Friday. This is Choi's third MC in seven starts at TPC Sawgrass and just his second in 10 events in 2008.
 Robert Karlsson-GMay. 9 - 10:21 am et
Robert Karlsson carded an 11-under 61 in the second round of the Italian Open.
The Swede had two eagles and 10 birdies and owned a two-stroke clubhouse lead at the conclusion of his round. Karlsson qualified for THE PLAYERS but stayed home since he was on the World Ranking bubble. "My caddie actually got a text from Wilbur, Nick O’Hern’s caddie, who is at Sawgrass," said Karlsson, "and it said, ‘greens rock hard, fairways rock hard, rough very thick, greens running 13, and forecast high winds’ so I said to him, ‘Maybe it is good that I am here!’"

 Shigeki Maruyama-GMay. 9 - 9:59 am et
Shigeki Maruyama withdrew from THE PLAYERS on Friday morning, citing a shoulder injury.
It's just as well since Maruyama carded a 9-over par 81 in the opening round. It extends a three-year trend of withdrawals for the gutty, three-time tour champ. His season-opening T-25 at the Sony remains his best finish of 2008.
