Week of Feb. 4-10

Great Options

Andrei Vasilevskiy-Tampa Bay Lightning

Schedule: Mon at EDM, Thu vs. VAN, Sat vs. LAK

The Bolts netminder heads into this weekend’s action riding a three-game winning streak. He gave up four goals in a win over Calgary on Thursday, but he allowed just one tally in victories over Chicago and Philadelphia. The Lightning will play the struggling owners on the road before hosting two West Coast teams.

Braden Holtby-Washington Capitals

Schedule: Sun vs. VGK, Tue at CBJ, Fri vs. CBJ

The Capitals will take on the Golden Knights on Sunday afternoon before starting a home-and-home series against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Holtby was solid in the month of January, as he lost one game in regulation in seven outings.

Pekka Rinne-Nashville Predators

Schedule: Mon at NYI, Wed at TOR, Thu at OTT, Sat at MTL

Rinne and the Predators are hitting the road next week, but they’re playing too well to dismiss because of something like that. Even though they’ll be away from Bridgestone Arena, it’s hard to ignore the fact that they’ll be playing four games. Rinne won’t start all four, but don’t be surprised if he plays in three.

Martin Jones-San Jose Sharks

Schedule: Sun at CAR, Tue at COL, Thu vs. VGK, Sat vs. EDM

Jones hasn’t been at his best for most of the season, but it looks like the Sharks will continue to ride him over Aaron Dell. The Sharks will be one of the few teams to play four games next week, so that will definitely boost their players’ fantasy value.

Editor’s Note: FanDuel’s main NHL contest, the NHL Breakaway, boasts thousands in cash prizes every night and costs less than $5 to enter.  Get in on the action!

Good Options

Connor Hellebuyck-Winnipeg Jets

Schedule: Tue vs. ARZ, Fri vs. STL

Hellebuyck has dropped back-to-back games in overtime and a shootout. He’s given up three goals or more in three straight games, but he also hasn’t suffered a regulation loss in his last five outings. He should be between the pipes for two home games next week.

Frederik Andersen-Toronto Maple Leafs

Schedule: Mon vs. ANA, Wed vs. NSH, Sat vs. OTT

Andersen enters the weekend having won two in a row and three of his last four games. He has a 25-14-4 record with a 2.61 goals-against-average and a .922 save percentage this season. The Leafs will play all three of their games at home, but they’ll have difficult matchups against Anaheim and Nashville.

Tuukka Rask-Boston Bruins

Schedule: Tue at DET, Wed at NYR, Sat vs. BUF

Rask and Anton Khudobin will very likely split the Tuesday, Wednesday games in Detroit and New York. The Bruins have another back-to-back situation on Saturday in Buffalo and Sunday in New Jersey, so don’t be surprised if Rask gets the home start against the Sabres. He has a 20-8-4 record. Rask has also won each of his last six games.

Henrik Lundqvist-New York Rangers

Schedule: Mon at DAL, Wed vs. BOS, Fri vs. CGY

Lundqvist comes into the weekend having lost each of his last three games, but he’ll have an opportunity to right the ship next week. The Rangers have three tough games next week, but two of them will be at MSG.

Bad Options

Carey Price-Montreal Canadiens

Schedule: Sun vs. OTT, Thu at PHI, Sat vs. NSH

The Canadiens are struggling and their franchise goaltender hasn’t been able to get them out of trouble. The home date against Ottawa is winnable, but it’s hard to trust him in fantasy at this point. Price has lost three in a row and seven of his last eight contests.

Edmonton Oilers

Schedule: Mon vs. TB, Wed at LAK, Fri at ANA, Sat at SJ

The Oilers will play four games next week, but it’s still difficult to trust them in fantasy. Three of their four games will be on the road against Pacific Division teams and their only home date of the week will come against the best team in the NHL. Stay away from Talbot if you can.

Jonathan Bernier-Colorado Avalanche

Schedule: Tue vs. SJ, Thu at STL, Sat at CAR

The Avalanche managed to win 10 games in a row not too long ago, but things have been a little more difficult for them lately. The fact that they’ll also be without Nathan MacKinnon doesn’t help. Bernier has lost three of his last four games and his schedule makes him hard to trust in fantasy next week.
