FanDuel NBA Plays: Thursday

Thursday, February 8, 2018

I’m here to break down tonight’s six-game FanDuel NBA slate starting at 7:00 ET. Keep in mind that this column was created earlier in the day, meaning injury information could change the fantasy landscape throughout the afternoon. Obviously you’ll want to keep track of any developments through Rotoworld’s NBA Headlines & Injuries Feed as we move closer to tip-off.

With that, let’s dive into each position while mining for the best value and overall plays in this slate.

POINT GUARD

Stephen Curry – Golden State (FanDuel Price: $9,800)

Russell Westbrook is a game-time decision tonight, and we probably won’t get clarity on his status before lineups lock (10:30 ET tip). That makes the decision at point guard much easier, as Stephen Curry serves as the next-in-line option. There’s plenty of value on this slate, so spending up at point guard is a comfortable strategy. Curry is looking at a tasty home draw against a Dallas team that ranks 27th in defensive efficiency vs opposing floor generals.

Also Consider: Dennis Schroder, D.J. Augustin & Shelvin Mack (Payton traded)

SHOOTING GUARD

Josh Hart – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $6,300)

The price has risen dramatically following three straight outings with 34+ fantasy points. Despite that, Hart remains squarely in DFS consideration tonight. He was already seen full starter minutes, and Jordan Clarkson’s departure (Ball doubtful as well) should solidify that trend. On top of the added usage, Hart will enjoy favorable matchup potential against an OKC defense that has been flailing without Andre Roberson.

Also Consider: Nicolas Batum, Kent Bazemore

SMALL FORWARD

Michael Beasley – New York (FanDuel Price: $6,200)

Beasley is one of the most obvious lifts within this slate. He’ll immediately step into a high-usage role with Kristaps Porzingis out. Beasley has flexed impressive fantasy upside when seeing 30 or more minutes. Not only does he have a clear path to heavy playing time, he’ll likely represent the Knicks’ primary offensive option. In all honesty, I’d probably roster Beasley even if he was $7000-$7500.

Also Consider: Paul George, Otto Porter

POWER FORWARD

Kyle Kuzma – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $4,700)

Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance have been traded this afternoon, clearing more playing time for Kuzma in LAL’s frontcourt. The matchup isn’t great, but Kuzma should realistically see around 30 minutes for the shorthanded Lakers. The power forward position is tricky on FanDuel, so I’m willing to take a chance on Kuzma without any clear-cut options jumping off the screen.

Also Consider: Al-Farouq Aminu, Jerami Grant (if Anthony out), Mike Scott (if Morris out)

CENTER

Kyle O’Quinn – New York (FanDuel Price: $4,000)

As mentioned with his teammate (Beasley), Kyle O’Quinn is another obvious DFS selection. Kristaps Porzingis and Enes Kanter are out while Willy Hernangomez has been traded. O’Quinn has been known as a volatile fantasy performer throughout his career, but he has also showcased promising upside when the situation calls (and he stays out of foul trouble). You aren’t risking much when considering the non-imposing $4k salary, and KOQ’s has a realistic chance to post a solid return around 30 fantasy points.

Also Consider: Dwight Howard, Steven Adams
