To the Back: Texas

Sunday, November 4, 2018

Martin Truex Jr. will drop to the back of the field for the second straight week after making an engine change. That forces him to give up his 13th-place position on the grid. Last week after failing post-qualification inspection at Martinsville, Truex was able to come to the front and challenge for the victory on the final lap.

In Saturday morning's session at Texas, Truex was seventh on the 10-lap average chart among 18 drivers who recorded at least 10 consecutive laps. He was 14th among 25 in Happy Hour.

Along with Truex, three other drivers will fall to the back.

Daniel Suarez also made an engine change and will give up his 19th-place position on the grid. Suarez was eighth-quick in Saturday morning's session, but third-best in Happy Hour.

Chris Buescher qualified 21st and drops to the rear with an engine change after switching to Hendrick Motorsports power for this weekend. Teammate AJ Allmendinger has an Earnhardt Childress Racing engine, but the team will switch to HMS power next year and this was an opportunity to test how the engine will fit in their cars.

Matt DiBenedetto has made a transmission change and will give up his 31st-place spot on the grid.
