Wrap-up: Michigan & Mid-Ohio

All three NASCAR top series were active this past weekend. The Cup and Truck series held their events in the "Irish Hills" of Michigan. On Saturday, the Camping World Truck Series ran the 100-lap Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan Int'l Speedway. On Sunday, the Cup drivers raced for 200 laps, with speeds of over 210 mph most of the time, at the 2-mile oval in Brooklyn, Michigan to complete the Consumers Energy 400. After last weekend's road course event in Watkins Glen, NY, the XFINITY Series did it again this weekend. This time, the NXS cars competed in the 75-lap Rock N Roll Tequila 170 on the 13-turn, 2.258-mile, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. Results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR Home Tracks are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS)
Time Trials: Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota) won the Busch Pole Award for the Consumers Energy 400 with a lap of 202.794 mph. It is his 28th pole in 457 MENCS races and his first in 26 races at Michigan Int'l Speedway (MIS). This is his second pole and 15th top-10 start in 2018. Kyle Busch (second) posted his 16th top-10 start of 2018 and his 14th in 28 races at MIS. Kevin Harvick (third) posted his 16th top-10 start at MIS and his 17th in 23 races this season. William Byron (20th) was the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender.
Did not qualify: No one. 40 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

Results: Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Ford) won the Consumers Energy 400, his 44th victory in 633 MENCS races. This is his seventh victory and 19th top-10 finish in 2018. It is his second victory and 17th top-10 finish in 36 races at Michigan. Brad Keselowski (second) posted his 10th top-10 finish in 19 races at MIS and his 12th top-10 finish in 2018. Kyle Busch (third) posted his 10th top-10 finish in 28 races at MIS. Bubba Wallace (23rd) was the highest finishing ROTY contender. Pole-sitter Denny Hamlin led 13 laps and finished the 200-lap race in eighth place.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
Time Trials: Austin Cindric (No. 22 Ford Mustang) won the Pole Award for the Rock N Roll Tequila 170 with a lap of 96.386 mph. This is his second pole in 22 NXS races. Cindric, making his first start at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, posted his second pole and 12th top-10 start in 2018. Elliott Sadler (second) scored his 14th top-10 start of 2018 and his fourth in six races at Mid-Ohio. Brandon Jones (third) earned his first top-10 start at Mid-Ohio and his 14th in 21 races this season.

Results: Justin Allgaier (No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro) won the Rock N Roll Tequila 170, his eighth victory in 261 NXS races. This is his third victory and 16th top-10 finish in 2018. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in four races at Mid-Ohio. Pole-sitter Austin Cindric (second) led a race-high 59 laps in the 75-lap event. It is his seventh top-10 finish in 2018. Daniel Hemric (third) posted his second top-10 finish in two races at Mid-Ohio.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS)
Time Trials: XFINITY Series regular John Hunter Nemechek, driving his family-owned No. 8 Chevrolet Silverado, won the Pole Award for the Corrigan Oil 200 with a lap of 184.044 mph. It is his second pole in 87 NCWTS races and his first in four NCWTS races at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). This is his first pole and seventh top-10 NCWTS start in 2018. Todd Gilliland (second), making his first truck start at MIS, posted his 10th top-10 start of 2018. Noah Gragson (third) scored his second top-10 start at MIS and his 12th in 14 races this season.

Results: Brett Moffitt (No. 15 Toyota Tundra) won the Corrigan Oil 200, his fifth victory in 28 NCWTS races. It is his fourth victory and eighth top-10 finish in 2018. This is his second victory and second top-10 finish in three races at Michigan. Johnny Sauter (second) posted his fourth top-10 finish in ten races at MIS and his 12th top-10 finish in 2018. Pole-sitter John Hunter Nemechek (third), who led 16 laps of the 100-lap event, posted his first top-10 finish in four races at MIS. Todd Gilliland (fifth) was the highest finishing ROTY contender.
