2018 Fantasy Race to Dubai

Dave Tindall is our main man in Europe. In addition to his weekly previews of European Tour events on Mondays, he’ll share his selections and analysis for the Fantasy Race to Dubai at EuropeanTour.com.

Format: Pick 6 golfers. Players accumulate points based on Race to Dubai (R2D) points earned. Captain’s points are doubled. Unlimited team changes can be made each week.

Team Tindall (Team name: YESSIR!)

Last Week: Up a thousand or so but glad to get out of the desert after some daft mistakes.

Pos: 6,246

Henrik Stenson (captain): The real star of the field and he did enough in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to justify his position as skipper. Also played in recent EurAsia Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Alexander Levy: The Frenchman brings an enticing mix of current and course form and he’s a proven performer in Asia. Ride the hot horse.

Bernd Wiesberger: But for sandwiching a 73 between rounds of 63 and 66, he could have won at this venue by a bunch last year. Has form in Malaysia of 3-2-2?and T15 in Abu Dhabi two starts ago.

David Lipsky: The runner-up last year returns on the back of a top six in Dubai on Sunday. Has good vibes coming at him from all angles.

Jeunghun Wang: Less than 5%-owned at the time of writing (Tuesday) so he’s my secret weapon. He deserves more attention after two excellent weeks in the desert and some superb Scrambling stats.

Hao Tong Li: Took down Rory to score a huge win in Dubai last week and he also cracked the top five in this event 12 months ago. Calm enough to keep his focus here.

Matt Cooper is part of our European team. He contributes to player news, and he’ll share his selections and analysis for the Fantasy Race to Dubai at EuropeanTour.com. He was the winner of the Ladies European Tour’s Fantasy League in 2011.

Team Cooper (Team name: NormanStanleyFletcher)

Last week: McIlroy holding the armband and Hatton in solo third cashed in, with the big tie for sixth boosting those gains.

Position: 292nd

Bernd Wiesberger (captain): He loves this part of the world (South-East Asia) with three top tens, including a win, in Indonesia and three top threes in Malaysia (including T3 on the course).

Henrik Stenson: Finished T3 on the course back in 2005 and just too good to leave out.

Alexander Levy: T4 here last year, been T3 in Thailand, and a two-time winner in China so Asia holds no fears.

Hao Tong Li: Happy to ride his wave given his T5 on the course last year.

Jeunghun Wang: More excellence from him in the desert during the last fortnight and no reason to think he can't play well here. Has played well in Singapore and the win in Morocco might be a pointer.

Lee Westwood: Think this sort of week is up his street these days. Course winner and has a very strong record in Asia (seven wins in his last 14 Asian Tour starts, admittedly going back to his glory days).
