AM's Perfect XI - Week 27

Thursday, February 8, 2018

Welcome to AM's Perfect XI - Week 27 player picks. This column focuses on Togga's Perfect XI game which you can play via their IOS and Android app. Download the apps via the link below and make sure you update regularly to take advantage of the constant enhancements:

Download the Togga app

Once downloaded, open the app and register an account. Once registered, click the Fantasy tab at the bottom of the app screen. Then from the Fantasy screen, click the arrow at the top of the app screen to select Perfect XI.

We've set up a Rotoworld PL Private League where you can challenge myself and the rest of the RW PL team over the course of the season. To join it download the app and then click the below link from your device, or find us from the Featured Leagues tab:

Each week I provide a Perfect XI of my own for the upcoming gameweek of Premier League fixtures, recommending 11 players to consider along with some honourable mentions for each position. The main 11 players listed won't necessarily be the exact players selected for my own Perfect XI fantasy side. The point of this column isn't to tell you exactly who to pick; it's to present some ideas to get you thinking. Hopefully you'll find the advice useful, whether you're playing Togga's game or looking at potential transfers for your official Fantasy Premier League team.

Week 26 was bad - 109 points - but somehow this lifted me up to 135th overall. I don't really understand how, but I'll take it.

We've got another standard weekend of fixtures for Week 27 and it starts with a real treat - Tottenham v Arsenal at Wembley in the early Saturday kick-off. It's important to have your fantasy team locked in ready for the Tuesday kick-offs but remember in Perfect XI you can swap out a player from your squad right up to one minute before their match kicks off and bring in an alternative player whose match is also yet to kick off. This wonderful flexibility allows you to avoid the pain of a surprise benching or unreported last minute injury and a big fat ZERO. Just make sure you keep an eye on the starting line-ups as kick off approaches each week by following the Rotoworld PL Twitter account.

Here are your Week 27 fixtures:

Saturday 10 February
Spurs v Arsenal
Everton v Crystal Palace
Stoke v Brighton
Swansea v Burnley
West Ham v Watford
Man City v Leicester

Sunday 11 February
Huddersfield v Bournemouth
Newcastle v Man Utd
Southampton v Liverpool

Monday 12 February
Chelsea v West Brom

As always we'll focus on players from the teams who should win comfortably this weekend. Chelsea have been struggling but I'm convinced they'll beat West Brom by a couple of goaks, while Manchester City at home to Leicester and Manchester United away at Newcastle look like banker wins. Stoke at home to Brighton, Liverpool away at Southampton and Bournemouth away at Huddersfield also offer some attractive options and there should be goals in the North London derby.

I'm writing this from my sick-bed this week so it's just a quick run through of players this week. Normal service will resume for Week 28.

David De Gea - away at Newcastle. There are a few decent keeper options this week but I'll probably play it safe with De Gea.

Honourable Mentions: Thibaut Courtois at home to West Brom, Lukasz Fabianski at home to Burnley, Jack Butland at home to Brighton

Marcos Alonso - at home to West Brom. No-brainer. Should be fresh after missing out against Watford as a precaution.
Moritz Bauer - at home to Brighton. Stoke's best defensive performer in PXI since he joined in January. Clean sheet opportunity.
Nicolas Otamendi - at home to Leicester. City are due a clean sheet and Otamendi is due a goal after a quiet 2018 so far
Charlie Daniels - away at Huddersfield. Bournemouth are on a great run and can win this one to nil. Daniels should get forward.

Honourable Mentions: Phil Jones away at Newcastle, Ben Mee away at Swansea, Patrick van Aanholt away at Everton, Seamus Coleman at home to Crystal Palace, Daryl Janmaat away at West Ham

Eden Hazard - at home to West Brom. Single-handedly carrying this Chelsea team-mates at the moment, which is ideal for fantasy purposes.
Xherdan Shaqiri - at home to Brighton. Enjoying his football under Paul Lambert, in form and has a great home fixture.
Paul Pogba - away at Newcastle. Dropped by Jose Mourinho for Week 26 after that desperately poor display at Spurs. Will be restored with a point to prove and should dominate the midfield.
Kevin De Bruyne - at home to Leicester. I'd love to offer some a differential here by KDB is just too darn good to ignore.

Honourable Mentions: Andros Townsend away at Everton, Son Heung-Min at home to Arsenal, Henrikh Mkhitaryan away at Tottenham, Jordan Ibe away at Huddersfield, Sadio Mane away at Southampton

Mohamed Salah - away at Southampton. I left Salah out of my PXI side last week. Lesson learned. Saints beware.
Callum Wilson - away at Huddersfield. This feels like a game for a Wilson brace and so he gets the nods ahead of the esteemed names below.

Honourable Mentions: Harry Kane at home to Arsenal, Sergio Aguero at home to Leicester, Olivier Giroud at home West Brom, Theo Walcott at home to Crystal Palace, Alexis Sanchez away at Newcastle

That's it for Week 27. Check out the Rotoworld Features page to access a host of fantastic content to get you ready for the weekend ahead.
