In this week's In the Crease we preview the Northeast Division.

 Mathieu Darche-W-SabresJul. 24 - 6:09 pm et
The Buffalo Sabres have signed free agent Mathieu Darche.
Terms of the contract were not released. Darche had seven goals and 22 points in 73 games with the Lightning last season. The 31-year-old had trouble cracking a weak Tampa lineup, so he will be in tough on a much deeper Buffalo squad.

 Pascal Pelletier-W-BlackhawksJul. 24 - 6:01 pm et
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired Pascal Pelletier in exchange for Martin St. Pierre.
Pelletier had 37 goals and 75 points in 73 games for Providence of the AHL last season and had zero points in six games with the Bruins. St. Pierre had 21 goals and 88 points in 69 games for Rockford of the AHL. St. Pierre had zero points in five games with the 'Hawks last season.

 Glen Murray-W-BruinsJul. 24 - 5:42 pm et
Glen Murray will be bought out after clearing the waiver wire, according to a report.
The team has 48 hours to execute the buyout of Murray's contract, which has one year remaining at $4.15 million. The veteran power forward had 17 goals and 30 points in 63 games last season and is clearly in the sunset of his career. If he is bought out, he will be an unrestricted free agent, able to sign with any team.

 Ryan Shannon-W-CanucksJul. 24 - 11:25 am et
Ryan Shannon inked a new deal with the Canucks on Wednesday.
Terms of the deal were not released. Shannon collected five goals and 13 points in 27 games with Vancouver last season, and spent the rest of the time in the minors. The Canucks also signed center minor leaguers Rick Rypien, winger Mike Brown and defensemen Nathan McIver, James Sharrow and Zach FitzGerald.

 Antoine Vermette-W-SenatorsJul. 24 - 9:48 am et
The Vancouver Canucks are reportedly interested in Antoine Vermette.
The 26-year-old speedster collected 24 goals and 53 points in 81 games last season. He has elected to go to arbitration and is seeking a salary in the $3 million range. According to the report, the Canucks have looked into the possibility of a trade. Vermette is scheduled to go to arbitration at the end of July, and the award he receives may prompt a move, if he cannot fit into Ottawa's salary structure.

 Martin Brodeur-G-DevilsJul. 24 - 8:37 am et
Larry Robinson will return to his former position as special assignments coach in New Jersey.
Robinson decided to return to his old position after spending a year as an assistant coach to Brent Sutter. "He did it for one year because we asked him to do it with Brent Sutter coming in," GM Lou Lamiorello said. Tommy Albelin and John MacLean will be the Devils assistant coaches this coming season.

 Steve Stamkos-C-LightningJul. 23 - 10:30 pm et
Steven Stamkos will not participate in Canada's world junior development camp next week.
The first overall pick in 2008 will instead be at a developmental camp for the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is further evidence that suggests Stamkos will be with the Lightning from day one this coming season. He should provide an immediate impact in most fantasy pools and can expect to rival Patrick Kane's 21 goal, 72 point rookie campaign.
